Job Description The Horticultural Science Department, UF/IFAS Horticultural Science Research Grove is looking for a full-time field technician. The following duties include but are not limited to:
Fieldwork involving propagation, planting and cultivation of peaches, citrus and avocado trees.
Data collection at experimental trials and analyses in the greenhouse and laboratory.
Monitor tree requirements and control measurements on microbial or insect infestations.
Maintain maps and records of materials and activities for trials.
Assist researchers and personnel with planting, fertilizing, and pruning trees.
Collect and prepare samples from trials (fruit, soil, leaf).
Travel to research tree fruit locations in central and south Florida.
Salary Expected Salary:
$15-$20/hour commensurate with experience
Required Qualifications
Valid driver's license.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly.

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field preferred but not required.
Pesticide application license.

Previous experience in field research or agricultural practices preferred.
Effective communication skills for interacting with the research team and local growers.
