Assistant Professor, Architecture (Two open positions) (Finance)
The USF School of Architecture and Community Design (SACD) invites applications for two full-time, tenure‑earning Assistant Professor positions beginning August 2026. Successful candidates will maintain an active research or creative practice agenda in line with the performance expectations of an R1/AAU institution, teach architectural design studios and lecture courses, and contribute to service within the school, college, and university. With prioritizing excellent studio teaching, special consideration will be given to applications that demonstrate experience and expertise in one or more areas of architectural history, computational technologies, environmental resilience, and building technologies.
Organizational Summary Founded in 1986, SACD was Florida's first public school of architecture located in a fast‑growing and dynamic major metropolitan center. SACD offers a Master of Architecture and is in the process of adding an undergraduate architecture program that is set to launch in Fall 2026. The school's research arm, the Florida Center for Community Design and Research, pursues work in resiliency, community planning and design, and housing and related interests. With approximately 300 students and 11 full‑time faculty, the school benefits from close ties to a robust professional community in Tampa Bay and a collaborative, mentorship‑focused culture.
The University of South Florida is a preeminent AAU research university recognized for its global impact, innovation, and academic excellence. It ranks among the top public universities in the nation and is designated as a Preeminent State Research University. The SACD is part of the USF College of Design, Art and Performance. As the creative center of the university, the college also includes the schools of Art and Art History, Theater and Dance, and Music, in addition to the Contemporary Art Museum and Graphicstudio, an internationally renowned print and sculpture atelier.
Minimum Qualifications
Terminal or doctoral degree in architecture or related field
Teaching experience in architecture
Demonstrated commitment to research or creative practice
Preferred Qualifications
At least three years of professional architectural experience
