About the Role:
Purdance Studios is currently looking for dance teachers and choreographers to work with our Elite Program. The ideal candidate will contribute to each student’s dance education through well-structured prepared lesson plans and level appropriate choreography, is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and/or hip hop styles and has experience working with competitive dance teams.
Role Responsibilities:
Prepare engaging, age-appropriate, progressive lesson plans for students of varying technical levels and ages.
Create and maintain a safe, fun, and motivating classroom environment to encourage and inspire Purdance students to develop technically and artistically.
Evaluate student performance, make recommendations, and offer corrections to facilitate student improvement.
Choreograph and teach group, solo, and/or performance routines to Purdance students as needed.
Required assistance with and/or participation in the production of Purdance affiliated shows, events or workshops, and Purdance attended dance competitions.
Select and submit music and costume/set/prop requests for recitals and classes, concerts and events in a timely fashion.
Maintain updated industry knowledge through continued training and education in any dance styles hired to teach or choreograph in.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience choreographing for competitive dance teams.
5+ years of experience teaching competitive contemporary, tap, jazz, ballet and/or Hip Hop.
Available a minimum of 2-3 days per week.
Ability to pass a fingerprinted background check.
Access to reliable transportation.
Ability to manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Collaborative and respectful mindset.
Postsecondary education in dance or a related field.
Compensation: $35-$45 hourly rate based on experience and education.
