SUMMARY The Composite Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the composites manufacturing process and new product development. This is a working management position and the leader in this role will be expected to address processing and technical issues alongside technicians and engineers. Our composite structures are a crucial part of what sets Firefly apart from its competitors and looking for candidates ready to set a new standard in the rocket industry.
Location for this role is at our Manufacturing site in Briggs, TX, 25 minutes north of Cedar Park.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with Value Stream Lead to distribute incoming projects to technician staff
Manage personnel in accordance with schedule priorities, production and company goals
Develop long term project and capacity planning
Plans, schedules, and manages all of the manufacturing production processes
Establish and enforce process specifications and requirements
Identify and rectify bottlenecks and/or shortages
Contribute to continuous process improvement
Implement/maintain 6S methodology
Take corrective actions to drawing and part discrepancies
Act as the technical liaison between manufacturing and engineering for DFM practices
Sourcing and ordering consumables including tools and equipment
Maintain a safe work environment and implement process to keep our technicians safe
Identify team’s skills and develop a matrix of areas of improvement
Be an advocate for your team and elevate needs as necessary
Ensure processes are in place to produce quality parts on time and on budget
Assists with planning and directing an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials
Ensures manufacturing performance, safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met by utilizing efficient methods and maintaining appropriate staffing levels
Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs, has full authority for personnel actions, and carries extensive knowledge of department processes
Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets
QUALIFICATIONS Required
Bachelors degree in an equivalent discipline
4+ years experience in change management and managing processes
Experience establishing new procedures and streamlining old procedures
Very strong affinity towards action
Knowledge of industry standard composite manufacturing processes
Experience as a production planner
7+ years in an Aerospace/Space Composite Manufacturing environment
3+ years in a leadership role
Manufacturing Efficiency Certification (LEAN/5S/6sigma)
