UTA seeks a Senior Software Development Manager to lead the design, delivery, and management of innovative technology solutions that power UTA’s business operations and client-facing services. This role demands broad software development expertise—spanning multiple programming languages, modern frameworks, system architectures, database technologies, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud platforms—combined with deep leadership and people skills. The ideal candidate brings holistic understanding of the software lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy, maintain) and leverages industry best practices and emerging technologies. Critical to the role: guiding diverse internal/external teams, managing vendors and budgets, and driving measurable ROI on development initiatives—while upholding UTA’s collaborative, values-driven culture.
The salary range for this role is $200,000 to $250,000 commensurate with experience and skills.
What You Will Do
Lead and mentor a software development team, cultivating a culture of collaboration, learning, and professional growth
Oversee technical direction and delivery across a variety of technologies: Salesforce, AWS, GraphQL, and AI-assisted development platforms
Collaborate with Product, Operations, Finance, and IT to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutions
Manage and coordinate a combination of internal engineering teams and external vendor partners for quality outcomes
Oversee vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, performance management, and alignment of partner goals
Implement resource management processes for optimal engineering allocation across multiple projects
Deliver accurate feature cost and time-to-market estimates, balancing capacity and business deadlines
Track ROI for all software development initiatives, focusing on value, efficiency, and business impact
Drive adoption of best practices in cloud architecture, system integration, and security
Champion modern tools (GraphQL, AI-assisted coding) and foster continuous innovation and productivity
Cascade technical strategies and project updates clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Lead engineering development through mentorship, training, and succession planning
Serve as a culture leader—reinforcing UTA’s values of curiosity, collaboration, and innovation
What You Will Need
10+ years of professional software engineering experience including 3+ years in a management role
CI/CD, DevOps, and Cloud Platform experience is required
Broad technical background: Salesforce development, AWS cloud services, GraphQL APIs, software architecture
Working knowledge of modern programming frameworks, relational/document databases, and integration patterns
Experience with AI-assisted or automation tool adoption is a strong plus
Successful track record managing both internal and external development teams, as well as direct vendor and contract oversight
Demonstrated accountability for cost estimation, resource management, and post-project ROI analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
