Assistant Teaching Professor, Psychological Sciences About the Department/College Psychological Sciences is housed in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, which is a community of change-makers. About the Position The Department of Psychological Sciences at Northern Arizona University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor position on NAU's mountain campus in Flagstaff, area of disciplinary expertise open, anticipated to begin in August 2026.

Responsibilities

Teach lower and upper division undergraduate courses, predominantly face-to-face.

Comment on and adhere to course load of four courses per semester (80% teaching).

Mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Service to department, college, university and/or discipline – essential.

Devote remainder of faculty workload (20%) to a combination of service and/or research-related activity.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Psychology, any of the psychological science sub-disciplines, or related field with clear connection to Psychology conferred by date of Appointment (August 2026).

College or university teaching experience (lead instructor) in psychology or related field.

*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience and/or evidence of potential for teaching in face-to-face and online teaching environments.

Record of teaching effectiveness and/or evidence of potential teaching effectiveness.

Success or evidence of potential success in mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Compensation Salary range begins at $60,000. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
