How you make a difference The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of RNs. The LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies.
Key Responsibilities
Under RN supervision, assess patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in the health care unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning.
Implement treatment programs directed by health care practitioners, administer medications—including IV therapy if certified—and perform diagnostic tests according to established protocols.
Collaborate in controlled‑substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques and procedures.
Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures, implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and document nursing encounters using SOAP charting.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating commitment to continuous professional development.
Qualifications & Requirements Education
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience.
Licenses/Certifications
Maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.
Obtain and maintain CPR certification.
We are looking for a full‑time LPN to join our clinical team at Kane County Jail. This position is 40 hours a week, with an 8‑hour shift from 3 p.m. – 11:30 p.m., rotating every other weekend.
