Area Float Nurse

– Registered Nurse (RN) – Full Time – Fresenius Medical Care Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Provide safe, high quality hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients under the direction of the Supervisor and Collaborative Care Team. Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre, during and post hemodialysis treatment; document in the patient medical record and adjust treatment plan as indicated. Assess patient/family learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family. Administer medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithms; document appropriate medical justification and effectiveness. Initiate or assist with emergency response measures. Serve as a resource for the health care team; participate in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned. Identify expected outcomes; document and update the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team. Ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options. Complete CAP requirements to advance. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Demands and Working Conditions

Direct patient care that regularly involves heavy lifting, moving of patients and assisting with ambulation. Frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the ability to bend over. May occasionally be required to move, with assistance, machines and equipment up to 200 lbs.; lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet. Work environment characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials. Day to day work includes desk work, computer work, interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians. May require travel to training sites or other facilities. Supervision

Assigned oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge after meeting experience and education milestones. Education and Licensure

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current appropriate state licensure. Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification. Must meet the practice requirements in the state of employment. Experience and Required Skills

Entry level RN with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience. Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred). Acknowledgement
