Jan De Nul
3. Numerical Modelling EngineerYour RoleAs a Numerical Modelling Engineer, you will create computer models and simulations that are essential for the preparation and execution of our diverse maritime projects. Whereas numerical modelling used to be mainly used for specific dredging studies, today it is applied in almost all divisions. You will help to understand the consequences of certain interventions on the marine environment.Your main tasks and responsibilities are:* Giving advice for, setting up and following up terrain monitoring campaigns related to
+ hydrodynamics,
+ waves,
+ water quality
+ environmental impact
+ morphologyin projects all over the world (with ad hoc short trips abroad).* Thorough data processing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.* Setting up, calibration and validation of;
+ Hydrodynamic models
+ Wave models
+ Sedimentation models
+ Turbidity models
+ Morphologic models
+ Water quality and flushing studies* Reporting, presentation and communication to internal and external Clients* Following up internal and external studies and measurement campaigns.* Giving advice regarding dredging and offshore construction methods with due regard for their estimated impact on the environment.You will work closely with various JDN departments and provide insights that are crucial for technically sound decisions.* A master's degree in engineering sciences.* Knowledge of: hydrodynamics, wave calculations, sedimentation, turbidity, etc.* Knowledge of measurement methods and data processing relating to hydrodynamics, waves and water quality.* Knowledge of or strong interest in offshore construction projects and dredging processes and their impact on the environment.* Strong presentation, reporting and communication skills.* Experience in setting up measurement campaigns (waves, currents) or processing the results of such measurement campaigns is also an advantage.* Programming skills: knowledge of software such as MIKE by DHI, Delft3D, Telemac, SWAN, SWASH, XBeach, Python, Matlab, CFD Software, etc.Working at Jan De NulWorking at Jan De Nul means helping to find solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time: from energy transition to rising sea levels to smart mobility. It means learning and working together every day, with the aim of ensuring the global quality of life for generations to come. What we offer* Through the JDN Academy, we provide you with a continuous training programme.* Our FIT programme supports your well-being, with a focus on exercise, nutrition, and various team activities.* A permanent contract with 42 paid vacation days (20 statutory, 12 ADV days, and 10 public holidays).* An attractive salary with a 13th month and double holiday pay, including:
+ Meal vouchers and eco vouchers.
+ Possibility to participate in the Flex Reward programme, including bicycle and car leasing with fuel card (in Belgium).
+ Reimbursement for public transport and bicycle allowance.
+ Group and hospitalisation insurance.
+ Option for an iPhone with a mobile and data subscription (with employee contribution).
+ Various staff discounts.* The opportunity to make a difference together with your colleagues in a stable and growing family business.*\*Applicable to Belgian contracts*.
