For additional information on remote work at Penn State, see .** **JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS**The Department of Biobehavioral Health seeks a candidate for a position as a Human Research Technologist to work with Dr. Idan Shalev. Research in the lab focuses on identifying mechanisms underpinning the biological embedding of stress and its effect on biological aging across the lifespan. Technologies used in the lab include RNA and DNA isolation from human tissues, cell separation, telomere length analysis, gene expression, immune and hormone assays. The part-time position is for a Research Technologist to assist Dr. Shalev with laboratory assays and processing samples in multiple ongoing studies, conduct inventory of lab supplies, maintain participant database and assist with other administrative laboratory procedures.All candidates should have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work with a team. The ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and attention to detail are essential. Minimum requirements are at least one year of experience working in a wet-lab. Preference will be given for candidates with expertise in DNA and RNA extractions from multiple tissues, and qPCR analysis, and ideally knowledge in statistical software (preferably R).Applications should include a cover letter, C.V., and contact information for three professional references.
