Overview

Neighborhood Health Association coordinates with and provides nutrition services to the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) supplemental food program clients. Plans, develops, directs, and evaluates the nutritional component of the WIC program. Responsibilities

Obtain and assess diet and health history of patient Review medical record as applicable Determination and explanation of medical/nutritional risk, assignment of medical code/ priority. Make eligibility determination and notify client of outcome Provide individualized nutrition counseling and make referrals Prescribe and explain food package Explain participant rights and responsibilities Determine income level when needed Have client sign appropriate forms Record certification data Removes participants no longer eligible for WIC

Education Classes

Assesses patients' needs and assigns to appropriate classes Plans and teaches all education classes Prepares proper lesson plans for each class Counsels individual patients deemed high risk Prepares, reviews, and selects all education materials Provides initial, periodic and intervention nutrition counseling to high-risk OB patients Skills/Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics Completion of a certified internship or AP4 through the American Academy of Dietetics, Registered Dietitian with the American Academy of Dietetics Licensed Dietitian with the State of Ohio Board of Dietetics
