PCU RN’s closely monitor patients recently released from the ICU before those patients are moved to regular hospital beds. PCU RN’S monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life‑threatening, or emergency situations. PCU RN’s work in hospitals, and usually will float as needed to work in Tele or Med Surg units.
Education/Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): 4-Year Education
Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN): 2-Year Education
You must earn an ADN or BSN degree and pass the NCLEX to apply for a license as a RN.
RN‘s can only work with an active state license.
ACLS is often required
