Job Description - SANE Registered Nurse (RN) (25000AJ7) This Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and delivery of quality forensic care to designated regional community hospital sites in the UH system under the directive of the Adult Forensic SANE Coordinator, aligning with the missions of the Blair Dickey-White Sexual Assault Survivor program. The Forensic RN serves under the direction of the Forensic SANE Coordinator and works collaboratively to ensure implementation of programming initiatives, training and quality assurance of community SANE providers, and timely education of the community.

A Brief Overview Provides safe, efficient age‑specific nursing care to patients and families using the nursing process in order to assist them in attaining, maintaining, regaining, and sustaining optimal health status.

Abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI); complete annual training, adhere to UH Code of Conduct, and uphold UH policies and procedures regarding PHI.

Education

Other Accredited Program: Diploma in Nursing or (ADN) Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Required)

(BSN) Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred)

(MN) Master’s in Nursing (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of nursing process and practice (Required proficiency).

Use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (e.g., stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers, electronic monitoring devices) (Required proficiency).

Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi‑State Compact License (Required upon hire)

Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required upon hire)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – may be required based on unit standards (refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document).

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – may be required based on unit standards (refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document).

We are looking for someone who has completed Adult/Adolescent SANE training certified through the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN).

Has completed additional didactic SANE training including four hours of court observation, training with the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, Cleveland Sex Crime department and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation Center, or completed within one year of hire.

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program is preferred.

Completion of first year of Master’s in Forensic Nursing (may substitute for 4‑hour didactic training); completion of didactic training must be completed within six months of hire.

Demonstrated skills in human relations & material resource management; evidence of ability to provide exceptional clinical skills and willingness to precept new nurses to the team.

Minimum three years of nursing experience, strongly preferred.

Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other media platforms; receipt of SANE‑A is the goal of all applicants.
