Position Summary Budget Analyst II – University Budget Office (08/02/2025 – 01/11/2026). Responsible for independently performing a broad range of technical, reporting, and analytical functions that assist the University Budget Office in administering the CSU budgetary program and providing consultative budget services to campus constituents. Permanent, full‑time, non‑exempt 12‑month pay plan with benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Research, analyze, and prepare reports on budgetary performance metrics, financial ratios, and financial trends.

Develop and maintain budget and financial systems (SQL, database development, dashboards).

Lead collaborative projects that improve organizational efficiency and customer service.

Provide training and develop resources for campus budget analysts and staff.

Participate in budgeting system design, testing, and installation.

Perform in‑depth analysis of complex data and present findings clearly.

Build financial forecasting models using mathematical and statistical techniques.

Research and recommend policy improvements and assess their impact.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Understanding of budgeting principles, public finance, and accounting practices.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and quantitative skills.

Proficiency with SQL, Oracle/PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Advanced proficiency in financial and spreadsheet software.

Leadership and training abilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) plus two years of relevant experience; advanced degree can substitute for experience year‑for‑year.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System, or equivalent.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.

Higher education institutional experience.
