Job Summary
FSS are responsible for implementing the Healthy Families America home visiting model, a home‑based intervention program with families, infants and children. One of the primary roles of the FSS is to develop strong relationships with families in order to provide service coordination, support, and training to assist families in meeting the needs of their children and enhancing parents’ role as the primary influence on their child’s development. Duties include working with families to promote positive parent‑child relationships and interactions, provide child development education, and enhance family functioning.
Responsibilities
Initiates and maintains regular and long‑term (up to three years) support and interventions with families, primarily within the family’s home, lasting at least an hour.
Interventions are family‑centered, strength‑based, and directed at establishing a trusting relationship.
Assists in strengthening the parent‑child relationship.
Assists parents in improving their skills to optimize the home environment.
Improves the family support system and increases the family’s ability to problem‑solve and advocate for themselves and their children.
