Required License/Registration/Certification: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license that is in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.

Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. May be exposed to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.

Shift Must be able to work two 12‑hour (7AM‑7:30PM) day shifts every Saturday and Sunday. Part of the Weekend Premium Pay (WEPP) plan. Some holidays may be required.

Job Summary Registered Nurses in Tower 200 Progressive Care of the Trauma Acute Care Surgical Center at UK Chandler Hospital provide care primarily for adult patients with trauma or acute care surgical conditions.

Responsibilities

Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care including assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching, development, and evaluation of nursing plans.

Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.

Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).

Adhere to University policies and procedures, and federal, state, local regulations.

Collaborate among nursing staff, physicians, and teams to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes.

Utilize the nursing process with a comprehensive patient‑centered plan of care.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson’s Caring model.

Superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills.

Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.

Professional and respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.

Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.

High motivation, pro‑active, confident advocacy for patients and families.

Ability to work independently or as part of a strong team with open, honest communication.

Preferred Education / Experience

BSN + AT LEAST 1 YEAR OF RN EXPERIENCE.
