Certified Surgical Technologist
Join LCMC Health as a Certified Surgical Technologist. This role places you on the operating room team, where your top priority is to ensure a safe surgery for every patient. As the watchdog in the OR, you maintain sterile environments, support the circulating nurse, and anticipate the surgical team’s needs.
Responsibilities
Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of operative site, care of operative specimens and room turnover.
Establish and maintain an organized sterile field.
Provide scrub assistance during procedures, demonstrating awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base.
Demonstrate aseptic principles and select proper sterilization methods of instruments/equipment, verify sterile instruments, take corrective action when unsafe practices occur, and report findings to the circulating nurse.
Prepare the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up back table, draping and counting with the circulating nurse.
Minimum Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assistants (NBSTSA) or National Certification for Competency Testing (NCCT).
Current BLS certification.
Sign on Bonus Available Work Shift Variable Hours (United States of America).
