Summary As an Environmental Specialist, the role will carry out responsibilities such as coordinating and implementing the group policy at Buffalo site level. The coordinator will participate in improving the environmental approach within the site and facilitating the implementation of the ISO 14001 certification, monitoring the environmental action plan, ensuring compliance with local laws and group standards, training and raising awareness among staff, performing site audits and promoting best environmental practices to align duties with the company’s goals and values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as an environmental resource for Lactalis employees.
Lead environmental projects.
Ensure the deployment of the environmental and energy policy, objectives, standards, and tools.
Ensure compliance with local regulations and requirements and be attentive to their development projects.
Improve the site’s environmental and energy documentation system.
Ensure the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO 14001 certification.
Conduct audits to ensure that the EMS is properly implemented and effective.
Implement the group policy on water management, wastewater losses, discharges management, chemical management, public and climate protection, waste management, soil and other pollution management.
Perform audits, manage non‑conformities, preventive and corrective actions, and ensure monitoring of the progress of environmental action plans.
Perform environmental risk assessment, develop and follow up on action plans.
Define, monitor and communicate environmental and energy KPIs and other indicators, including reporting data on the group environmental reporting system.
Communicate with supervisory authorities and regulatory agencies.
Develop and maintain the internal audit plan, Standard Operating Procedures, the emergency and communication plans.
Train and lead awareness sessions for employees.
Review, analyze and make recommendations on assigned topics.
Perform health and safety tasks as required.
Perform department administrative tasks as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Conditions
Travel may be required occasionally.
Extended hours may be necessary depending on project needs.

Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001 experience preferred; experience in Project Management preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; majors in Environmental Systems Management or related field preferred.
Competencies: Ability to audit strategies in energy and environment, analyze and present action plans; complete understanding of environmental legislation and law; self‑motivated and teamwork; strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Salary Description $65,000 – $75,000
