The primary function of the Clinical Practice Coordinator (CNC) is to provide support for the staff nurses in the Outpatient Oncology department as well as to the unit Nurse Manager. The CNC is an important role to facilitate effective throughput, enhance quality of patient care services, provide clinical support to staff and improve communication for all members of the multidisciplinary patient care team. This is a highly clinical role. The CNC will be very visible on the unit and assisting nursing with their patient care responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Works under the direction of the Nurse Manager to oversee, manage, and train nurses and other staff within the department.
Responsible for oncology clinical staffing under direction of Nurse Manager.
Ensures that oncology clinical staff adhere to the departmental Standards of Care as well as Northeast Hospitals’ Policies and Procedures.
Rounds on the nursing staff continuously throughout the day and assists them with patient care as needed.
Assigns meal breaks, ensuring adequate and cohesive coverage of patient assignments and staffing.
Serves as a clinical resource to staff in the department.
Works closely with the Nurse Manager to identify educational needs of staff in the department.
Checks emergency equipment and documents appropriately.
Assists staff with Epic/Beacon updates and education under Nurse Manager direction.
Manages Pyxis discrepancies.
Reports patient/family complaints or issues as needed when appropriate to the Nurse Manager.
Communicates necessary patient information to the staff nurses as needed.
Assists with coordinating transfers out of the department and communicates any delays to the Nurse Manager.
Actively role models the behaviors of nursing leadership.
May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager.
Additional Responsibilities May Be Assigned As Needed
Coordinates and/or performs physician ordered patient care following established guidelines and algorithms.
Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients.
Education/Experience
BSN required.
Minimum of 2 years of management experience.
Knowledge of Billing and Coding guidelines.
Current RN license.
Current BLS certification.
Certification in Oncology.
Pay Range $135,200.00 USD - $170,560.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
