Providing compassionate care to children, teenagers, and young adults of Central Florida for more than 30 years, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is located on the downtown Orlando campus and includes 156 licensed beds for specialized pediatric care as well as the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, offering trauma care for children as the pediatric site of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center. State‑of‑the‑art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high‑quality patient care.

Position Summary Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Mobile ICU is seeking a

Paramedic . The paramedic provides and documents individualized patient care to include patient and personal safety, patient assessments in collaboration with the ED RN, patient re‑assessments, triage, maintaining airway patency, IV access and hanging normal saline without additives, ECG interpretations, dysrhythmia recognition, and assists with the application of skeletal traction/splints/immobilizers and other orthopedic equipment.

Responsibilities

Delivers patient care requiring advanced skills and judgment in the Emergency Department setting as directed by the Nursing Operations manager or their designee.

Acts in accordance with documented protocols and guidelines within approved current Emergency Department Paramedic competency.

Operates within the scope of practice for a paramedic in Florida.

Provides care under the supervision of a physician (protocols/standing orders) as part of Orlando Health’s licensed EMS provider model.

Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the Nursing Operations manager or their designee.

Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

Participates in maintaining Emergency Department cleanliness, safety, organization, and stocked supplies.

Demonstrates awareness of patient rights and legal issues.

Complies with all standards required by regulatory and accreditation agencies.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate to caring for pediatric patients, including understanding of growth and development and age‑specific needs.

Qualifications

Successfully completed a Paramedic program.

Current certification as a paramedic (PMD) in Florida and renewed every 2 years.

Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider and ACLS certification; must obtain and maintain PALS certification within one year of hire.

No prior experience required.
