What You’ll Do
Respond to emergency calls and provide essential medical care to patients in need.
Assess the medical needs of patients and administer appropriate treatment according to established protocols.
Safely lift, transfer, and maneuver patients in and out of ambulances, facilities, residences, and other locations.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and other emergency responders to ensure coordinated care.
Complete and maintain accurate records and documentation related to transport, equipment inspection, supplies usage, incidents, and other operational reports.
Maintain compliance with PSI and/or Department of Health requirements for continuing education and licensure.
Maintain a clean, complete uniform, proper personal hygiene, and a professional, pleasant, and polite demeanor at all times while on duty.
Inspect and report damage, deficiencies, safety issues, or other problems with ambulances, vehicles, equipment, and supplies; assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance and station maintenance.
Participate in public education, public relations, public health safety programs, emergency medical service training, fire training, fire prevention activities, rescue, extrication, hazardous material situations, demonstrations, and instructing activities that benefit the company and its communities.
Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Current/Valid Illinois Driver’s License of proper classification.
Successful completion of a Paramedic program and current/valid Illinois Department of Public Health License.
Capability to complete continuing education and testing requirements as assigned.
State of Illinois Firefighter certification (for Firefighter applicants).
Successful completion of a professional and criminal background check.
Pass pre‑employment testing including Fit for Duty Physical, Drug Screening, Agility, and Lifting Evaluation.
Preferred Certifications (but not required)
ACLS.
PALS/PEPP.
PHTLS / BTLS / ITLS.
CPR Instructor.
