CLINICAL RESEARCH BILLING SPECIALIST

Moffitt Cancer Center The specialist will use the OnCore Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) financial functionality to track billable items and will follow up with study teams when billing information is missing or improperly captured. Responsibilities include reviewing study activity for billable services or visits, invoicing sponsors, submitting claims to all insurance companies, and investigating and resolving insurance denials, duplicate payments, and overpayments. The role also involves gathering charge information, coding, and distributing appropriate information for sponsor claim management. Summary

The specialist will track new clinical trial patients, review active research patient accounts for business office requirements, audit patient accounts, and work closely with the Moffitt Cancer Center business/insurance billing team to resolve complex billing and reimbursement issues. The role also supports the development of research patient financial services policies, resolves complex billing issues, and participates in the development of reporting and tracking requirements. Experience with Soarian or Clinical Research Systems Responsibilities

Track new clinical trials patients through appropriate system and place selected accounts on hold for review. Review active research patient accounts for business office requirements, verifying conformity with established protocol budget and study‑required patient care services prior to patient/insurance billing. Audit clinical trials patient accounts based on notification from the clinical trial team and verify correct billing as it relates to study budget. Assist with unusual and complex billing and reimbursement issues associated with research patient accounts. Assist in the development of research patient financial services policies and procedures, and resolve complex billing issues. Provide problem‑solving and suggestions to the Director of Clinical Research Revenue Integrity. Participate in the development of reporting and tracking requirements, identifying billing discrepancies, and assisting in developing guidelines for responding to specific inquiries. Ensure that all charges are captured and billed for E & M outpatient and inpatient services for physician research. Credentials And Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in clinical research hospital/physician billing, medical audit, case management, patient financial services, and/or revenue cycle billing, or clinical trials coordination. In lieu of an associate’s degree, a High School diploma/GED plus five (5) years of relevant experience is acceptable. A Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year of relevant experience is also acceptable.
