in the Pathology laboratory located at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee. We are seeking Histology Professionals dedicated to providing the highest quality medical laboratory services.
Sign‑on Bonus:
$10,000.00 (external applicants only)
Work Schedule:
Option 1: 2nd shift; Monday - Friday 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Option 2: 2nd shift; 4 x 10's Tuesday - Friday 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM

Job Responsibilities:
Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
Record equipment log data accurately and timely
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies
Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis, and reporting
Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a non‑traditional Bachelor’s degree meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
At least 5 years of experience cutting small tissue as a histotech
HT/HTL certification preferred
IHC and special staining knowledge, cutting molecular study cases experience preferred
Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
Comfortable embedding both large and small specimens
Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Experience working in a high‑volume laboratory environment desirable
Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
Must pass a standardized color vision screen
