Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for our Medical/Surgical unit. This is a full‑time night shift position in Charlottesville, VA. Sign‑On Bonus up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates. Cornell 2‑our Medical/Surgical unit specializes in oncology, urology, diabetes, kidney disease, COPD, CHF. Our patient‑to‑nurse ratio is 1:5/1:6. We provide a dynamic environment for experienced nursing professionals and new graduate nurses, with comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development.

The RN is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process. Standards of practice include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Standards of professional performance include ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, research, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health.
Education
Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or MSN (preferred)
Students completing an accredited nursing program (acceptable)
Certification / Licensure
Registered Nursing License (required)
Students obtaining a Registered Nursing License (acceptable)
BLS required within 90 days of hire
Experience
No prior experience required
1 year acute care experience (preferred)Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
