Hourly range for RSAM Registered Nurses $43.10 - $67.03/ hour

Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour

Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour

Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour

Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour

Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour

Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Responsibilities

Provide coordination of nursing care, education, and support to patients and families of the Thoracic Surgery Service and other surgical patients.

Serve as a clinical resource and consultant to all customers of general surgery, especially focused on thoracic surgery.

Coordinate care pre‑operatively and post‑operatively for the surgical patient population primarily in the thoracic surgery outpatient setting.

Assist in the development of patient care standards in collaboration with the clinical management team.

Assist in the development and implementation of competencies, protocols, and patient education tools to improve patient care.

Seek out patient education materials.

Work collaboratively with all members of the general surgery team to provide efficient patient care processes, especially for the thoracic patient population.

Order tests, renew prescriptions, inform patients of results from testing, telephone triage (gathering information, giving instructions and answers to patients, teaching, relaying problems to MDs, and making decisions for patients to come to ER or clinic using nursing assessment skills).

Participate in quality improvement and/or LEAN initiatives.

Support research initiatives.

Nursing Specific Info Salary & Nursing Framework Level

This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role‑Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as: CCC‑ COMPETENT NE. Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire. RSAM levels range from CCC‑COMPETENT NE to CCC‑EXPERT NE TO CCC‑MASTERY NE or CCC‑Mastery Plus NE. Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5‑day posting period. Required Qualifications

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan

Bachelors degree in Nursing OR Associates degree/diploma in nursing AND a Masters degree in Nursing

Five (5) years of RN experience

Three (3) years of experience (within the last 5 years) of direct inpatient or outpatient care for an adult surgical population

Desired Qualifications

Two or more years (within the last 5 years) of experience providing post‑op care to Thoracic Surgery patients

Demonstrated ability to provide post‑surgical procedures ie: suture removal, drain removal

Experience managing surgical patients in the outpatient setting

Ambulatory care phone triage

Experience providing patient education

Two (2) or more years of recent (in last 3 years) experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC

Computer/typing skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Work Schedule

Hours per week: 40 hours

Shift / Days / Hours: Day Shift, Monday‑Friday, 8am – 5pm

Location: primarily Taubman Center with some potential for other locations as needed based on division growth changes/strategies.

All employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census or department needs.
