Required License/Registration/Certification: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA‑C)
Physical Requirements: On your feet and walking more than average through the course of seeing patients in various health care settings. Shift Monday through Friday, no call, no nights, minimum 40 hours per week.
Job Summary The Advanced Practice Provider Orthopedic Surgical First Assistant (APP) works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP functions as a member of the orthopedic surgical management team. This requires management of all aspects of patients from admission to discharge. The APP is integral in the operating room in collaboration with the attending surgeon. In some service lines the APP may perform the pre‑, intra‑op, post‑op and follow‑up care. The APP has a strong foundation in evidence‑based practice and education and ensuring an environment of safe quality care. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic Orthopedic Sports Medicine team. This is a unique opportunity to practice at the intersection of clinical care, surgery, and research—working directly with elite and professional athletes as well as active individuals of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
Athlete Care:
Provide comprehensive evaluation and management of musculoskeletal injuries in elite athletes, weekend warriors, and active patients.
Clinical Practice:
Assist in outpatient clinics with patient assessments, treatment planning, and follow‑up care.
Surgical Support:
First‑assist in the operating room for advanced orthopedic sports procedures, including arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction.
Research & Innovation:
Participate in ongoing clinical research projects, data collection, and publications to advance the field of sports medicine.
Collaboration:
Work closely with orthopedic surgeons, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and multidisciplinary staff to deliver world‑class care.
Qualifications
Current NCCPA certification and state licensure (or eligibility) preferred.
Prior orthopedic or sports medicine experience preferred, but motivated new graduates will be considered.
Strong interest in caring for athletes and contributing to clinical research.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
