Here’s What You Need
High School Diploma or equivalent, and employment in surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, required OR
Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, vocational nurse program, or military training program in surgical technology required
2 years of experience in a surgical service specialty (robotics, cardiovascular/hearts, orthopedic, neurology) with a minimum of 150 cases performed required
CST – Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) required on hire
LVN – Licensed Vocational Nurse required on hire
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support required and must be maintained quarterly on hire
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally across disciplines; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; high degree of confidentiality; capable of functioning in a fast‑paced environment and handling multiple demands; service orientation and ability to respond to the needs and emotions of people under stress
What You Will Do
Preoperatively assist RN circulator in formulating a plan of care
Prepare and organize the operating room
Assist in providing peri‑operative care for a patient population that includes infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
Assist as needed in coordinating patient care peri‑operatively
Assume responsibility and accountability for behavior to maintain standards for professional nursing practice
Post‑operatively follow proper procedures for the care of instruments, supplies, and equipment
Under supervision, assist RN circulators with post‑operative duties
