Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for their patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee.
Responsibilities
Clinical Judgment: Conduct accurate clinical assessments, identify and prioritize patient and family needs, implement and evaluate the nursing plan of care, and modify the plan to meet clinical outcomes.
Clinical Inquiry: Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, support evidence‑based practice changes, and participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
Caring Practices: Create a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment; manage emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing.
Response to Diversity: Incorporate patients' and families' unique differences into individualized plans of care.
Advocacy and Moral Agency: Preserve confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families; resolve ethical and clinical concerns.
Facilitation of Learning: Facilitate learning for patients, families, nursing staff, and the community, integrating education throughout the continuum of care.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues and community to develop and implement integrated plans of care; delegate tasks responsibly.
Systems Thinking: Use available resources for problem‑solving; consider safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in planning and delivery of care.
Professionalism: Participate in shared governance, continuing education, and community service; demonstrate commitment to professional growth.

Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Experience: 2 years of RN experience.
Certification/License/Registration: Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
