Pay Range Base pay: $96,147.00/yr – $105,138.00/yr

Posted hiring salary includes the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 plus a geographic differential of $20,000. Employees hired for the 2 pm – 10 pm shift qualify for a 7% shift differential and $575.00 inconvenience pay.

Responsibilities

Participate in nursing activities, including preparation, evaluation, and implementation of nursing care plans to ensure quality patient care.

Act as health liaison.

Coordinate and schedule medical follow‑up, including completion of consultations.

Provide first aid and emergency nursing care.

Monitor and order pharmaceutical supplies for each individual.

Attend team reviews and present information as needed.

Meet documentation requirements: obtaining and transcribing physicians’ orders, daily nursing notes, health charts, medication regimen reviews, and case review summaries.

Provide medication administration.

Maintain inventory standards for medication, controlled substances, and medical supplies.

Participate in staff training.

Prepare clinical and administrative reports.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer.

Licensed and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State; must maintain a valid license and registration.

Additional Comments & Shift Information Shift: 2 pm – 10 pm. Shift differential: 7%; inconvenience pay: $575.00.

For the duration of the NY‑HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment (no examination required). All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. Within one year of permanent appointment, non‑competitive employment status will be converted to competitive status without examination. Employees will then be afforded the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.

Salary Schedule Posted hiring salary: $96,147 – $105,138 (statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 plus geographic differential of $20,000). Shift differential and inconvenience pay apply as above.

Background Investigation Requirements

Criminal background check (CBC), including state and federal criminal history record checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information, may bar appointment or result in removal.

Screening against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR); any required fees may apply.

For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees, check against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL); names appearing as responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect are barred from appointment.
