Laboratory Technician I — Lake Charles Refinery
Duration: 12/29/2025 to 06/29/2026 - with potential for extension
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shift; overtime may be required
Location: Lake Charles, LA
Position Overview
Support the Lake Charles Refinery laboratory by performing routine and specialized analyses across process, finished product, standards, and environmental/outfall samples. This contingent role is intended to alleviate overtime and fatigue resulting from multiple long term vacancies. Work aligns with Refinery and Loss Control Programs and emphasizes safety, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform analyses of laboratory standards, in process samples, finished product, and outfall water, following approved analytical methods.
Document regulatory data and maintain complete records compliant with the Laboratory Quality Assurance program.
>Coordinate sample pickup/logistics with environmental personnel and generate data analysis reports for engineers, operations, and maintenance. Maintain lab equipment and sustain a clean, contaminant free work area; execute QA/QC checks to ensure accuracy and integrity of results.
Apply analytical standards/methods and regulatory requirements; use problem solving skills to address technical issues.
Practice effective interpersonal skills daily (communication, listening, teamwork, leadership); comply with lab/company policies and applicable regulations.
Required Qualifications
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
1+ years of refinery or chemical laboratory experience OR an associate’s degree or higher in a science/technical field.
Basic math and analytical skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to be on feet for the majority of a 12-hour shift
Standard PPE with H2S Monitor
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in refinery laboratory QA programs and loss control.
Hands on experience with common refinery instruments (e.g., GC, HPLC, XRF, ICP, titration).
Experience with environmental/outfall water monitoring and reporting.
Familiarity with client site specific procedures and safety practices.
