This is a critical, Joint Commission–required Infection Prevention role within an over 200-bed community hospital serving Florida’s Space Coast. The organization is seeking an experienced Infection Prevention professional who can step in immediately and operate with confidence and autonomy. This position supports the facility as the sole Infection Preventionist, making experience and readiness essential. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, building strong relationships across nursing, medical staff, and ancillary departments, and serving as a trusted subject matter expert for infection surveillance, regulatory reporting, and compliance. What You’ll Do
Serve as the hospital’s primary Infection Prevention expert and resource Ensure continuous Joint Commission readiness, including surveys and tracers Lead infection surveillance, validations, incident reporting, and outbreak response Own NHSN reporting, state reporting, contact tracing, and investigations Chair the Infection Control Committee (agenda development, facilitation, and minutes) Participate in the Quality Management Committee Co-chair the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee in partnership with Pharmacy Oversee high-level disinfection practices across the organization Participate in ICRA reviews, construction, and life safety planning from an infection control perspective Support rounding, education, compliance monitoring, and practice change initiatives Build collaborative relationships with nursing leadership, physicians, and ancillary teams What Are the Benefits?
