This position is located at the Irwin Army Community Hospital in Fort Riley, Kansas. Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive health care to eligible beneficiaries in an ambulatory setting in association with staff physicians and other medical staff.
Provide care and treatment of acute illness or injury, chronic illness, preventative health measures, health maintenance, and health education services.
Provide follow‑up care to patients to ascertain patient compliance with recommendations for therapy and response to treatment.
Analyze and interpret routine laboratory results.
Prescribe and dispense controlled medications.
Maintain a complete electronic medical record for each patient by recording subjective and objective findings for each visit and ensuring that an assessment plan is formulated and documented for each visit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Who May Apply:
US Citizens.
Education:
A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in Nurse Practitioner. (Attach transcripts.)
Foreign Degree:
Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure:
A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory; and passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
Specialty Licensure:
A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of Family Practice Nurse Practitioner or related specialty.
Exemption:
Fewer than 2017 federally employees with continuous employment in 0610 series may be exempt; documentation required.
Professional Nursing Experience:
One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes conducting physical examinations, prescribing medications, and ordering and interpreting laboratory or diagnostic test results. This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS‑0610‑11). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone—no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
