Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification as a phlebotomist.
Position Summary The primary responsibility of the Phlebotomist is collecting and processing blood samples (e.g., centrifuging in the field, performing aliquots onsite) as well as proper labeling, adherence to biosafety procedures and transporting samples safely. Phlebotomist also collects bio‑marker data (e.g., blood pressure, height, weight, hip/waist measures). Other duties include obtaining informed consent and completing all visit paperwork.

Certification as a phlebotomist.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to implement procedures in compliance with research protocols.
Demonstrate basic word processing and data entry skills.

Physical Demands
Lift, carry, and transport phlebotomy supplies, coolers, centrifuges, and field kits (up to 25 lbs).
Load and unload equipment from UGA rental vehicles.
Organize supplies for early‑morning field preparation.
Travel to participants’ homes (up to 3 hours away from Athens).
Drive a rental vehicle to conduct research visits.
Duties/Responsibilities
Conduct research visits/phlebotomies in participants’ homes.
Drive to and from participants’ homes.
Perform fasting blood draws (visits early morning).
Centrifuge blood in the field.
Perform aliquots on‑site.
Label samples and complete documentation.
Adhere to biosafety procedures.
Manage chain of custody protocols while transporting samples.
Preparing for and wrapping up research visits at UGA Center for Family Research and the Health and Development Laboratory (Psychology Building).
Packing/checking out visit materials at CFR.
Transporting designated samples to store at the H&D Lab.
Storing designated samples at CFR.
Unpacking/checking in visit materials at CFR.
Attend training and periodic project meetings.
Complete mandatory online trainings (Human Subjects/CITI, Blood Safety, UGA required trainings).
Complete project specific training (and re‑trainings as needed) on study protocols.
Attend periodic project meetings.
