Physical Therapist (PT) Qualifications:

Successfulcompletion of the academic requirements of an educational program in physicaltherapy which has been approved for the educational preparation of physicaltherapists by the appropriate accrediting agency recognized by the Commissionon Recognition of PostsecondaryAccreditation or the United States Department of Education at the time of heror his graduation and have passed, to the satisfaction of the board, theAmerican Registry Examination prior to 1971 or a national examination approvedby the board to determine her or his fitness for practice as a physicaltherapist

Mustbe licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as a physical therapist inthe state of

Prior experience in Physical Therapy, preferred

Member of state and national American Physical TherapyAssociation, preferred

Professional attitude and appearance

Proficientadministrative and public relations skills

Thoroughknowledge of the principles, methods, materials and equipment used in physicaltherapy

Thoroughknowledge of the possible hazards to patients during treatment and necessaryprecautionary and remedial measures

Abilityto establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and toobtain their cooperation in the treatment prescribed

Abilityto establish and maintain effective relationships with the medical staff andother personnel

Abilityto understand, interpret, and adopt a physician’s written or oral directionsand to recommend treatment programs and outline expected benefits regardingphysical therapy

Demonstrateemotional stability in order to cope with the demands of both patients andemployees

Mustmaintain patient and employee confidentiality

Knowledgeof Medicare and third party reimbursement, preferred
