We are dual licensed for mental health and substance use treatment, providing residential treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient services. Our adolescent program treats ages 12 through 17, to help re‑establish healthy behavior while facilitating a successful transition back into the family, home, school and community. La Amistad enjoys full accreditation by The Joint Commission. Responsibilities

Therapists are responsible for conducting therapeutic services for residents of La Amistad Behavioral Health Services, working closely and collaboratively with our team of psychiatrists on a daily basis. They provide counseling sessions for families, individuals and groups. Therapists are responsible for interviewing and developing the psychological history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family, developing appropriate treatment objectives and weekly treatment summaries. Therapists act as the residents’ and families’ primary contact during the resident’s stay within the program as well as their advocate with the treatment team. Therapists are also liaisons with outside agencies and individuals for the purpose of developing and coordinating discharge planning with the treatment team and family. Conduct individual and family psychotherapy sessions for residents on their caseload at least one time per week. Conduct general psychotherapy group sessions for residents’ in‑group caseload at least four times per week. Conduct specialized groups as assigned based on education, training and experience. Establish rapport, systematically gather data; determine client’s readiness for treatment and change. Analyze and interpret relevant data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities. Coordinate with treatment team, family and residents in family caseload and implement discharge planning. Have understanding of Common Psychiatric Diagnoses. Recognize associated behaviors and use proper intervention techniques for Common Psychiatric Diagnoses. Document as required by facility policy. Evaluate and demonstrate age‑specific behaviors, motor skills and psychological norms; recognize patient’s level of psychosocial development and modify approach accordingly. Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or other related fields. Experience: One year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with children and/or adolescents. For specialized issue or treatment modalities, training must be specific to these: abuse reactive, sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, vocational, play therapy, art therapy and relaxation therapy. Must have knowledge of human development over the life span. License/Certification: Current license from the State of Florida, such as LCSW, LMFT, LMFTI, LMHC or LMHCI. Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills related to documenting assessments, treatment planning and interventions into a meaningful document. Must be able to communicate with members of interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, children, adolescents, adults and resident families in a clear and concise manner. Knowledge: Individual, group and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within family systems. Knowledge: Clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the overall treatment plan. Physical Requirements: Minimal.
