MEDICAL SCRIBE (TEMP) – Michigan Medicine
We are seeking a Medical Scribe for a temporary position at Michigan Medicine. In this role you will accompany physicians into the patient examination room to transcribe history and physical exams, document diagnoses, orders, procedures, and follow-up instructions with the highest accuracy and timeliness.
Job Summary Assist physicians by transcribing patient encounters, documenting examinations, diagnoses, and orders, and ensuring that all interactions are recorded accurately and in real time.
Responsibilities
Accompany physicians into the examination room to transcribe history and physical exam findings.
Record all diagnoses, symptoms, follow‑up instructions, and prescriptions dictated by the physician.
Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology studies, and medications.
Document any procedures performed by the physician.
Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
Adhere to employer work practices and company standards.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management.
Effectively cope with typical job stress and changing priorities.
Document work processes as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Understanding of medical terminology and the physical exam process.
Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications.
Legible penmanship and ability to accurately record information.
Organizational skills focused on tracking patient care and improving flow.
Professional demeanor and strong communication skills in English.
Recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
Experience in a clinical or medical setting is a plus.
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy or stressful environment.
Adherence to all policies and procedures, including safety, attendance, punctuality, and appearance standards.
Minimum one year of related experience or training is preferred.
Work Schedule Hours will fluctuate between Monday‑Friday, 8‑5 pm, with some overtime available.
Background Screening Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre‑employment drug testing on selected candidates, in compliance with applicable laws.
