Per Diem Exercise Physiologist – Cardiac Rehabilitation – Day
NewYork‑Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital is looking for a skilled Per Diem Exercise Physiologist to support our Cardiac Rehabilitation program. The role is a day‑shift position with a 7.5‑hour scheduled work week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 6:30 am – 5:00 pm) at 1980 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
Responsibilities When Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation are prescribed, the exercise physiologist evaluates patients, plans, and develops individualized exercise prescriptions, including updates to more intense MET levels with physician approval. The physiologist assists patients in reaching their maximum performance and functional level while learning to live within their capabilities. Additional duties include participating in department operational activities, performance‑improvement initiatives, budget input, accurate patient billing, infection‑control protocols, departmental equipment training, and safety & fire‑safety programs.
Preferred Criteria
Two years of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation experience
One year of experience with the ScottCare telemetry system
Required Criteria
Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, or another health‑related field
Current BLS and ACLS certification
Experience reading EKGs and identifying cardiac arrhythmias
Ability to recognize lung sounds
Experience operating a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation telemetry system
Knowledge of exercise equipment operation and prescription
Ability to take blood pressure and pulse manually
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients, families, physicians, the Cardio‑Pulmonary department, and other hospital units
