Overview Smile New York Outreach, a school‑based mobile dental practice, is seeking a
Dental Assistant
in
Far Rockaway, Queens, NY and surrounding areas
to help provide dental care to underserved children at their school. Our innovative in‑school dental program offers a workday that ends with the school day and no nights or weekends, making it perfect for working parents and anyone who wants to make a difference in the dental field.
Dental Assistant Qualifications
Dental Assistant Certification (preferred, but not required)
CPR certification card
Working experience as a Dental Assistant
Experience with Digital X‑rays
Experience with patient charting (paper forms, charting tooth surfaces)
Valid ID and willingness to travel to schools within the boroughs
Works well with children
Team player and able to work on a small team
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Dental Assistant Responsibilities
Dental assisting services during mobile dental clinics
Digital X‑ray imaging
Patient records charting
Equipment set‑up, breakdown, and sterilization assistance
Travel daily to and from school sites
Offers
Evenings, weekends, and summers off
School day schedule (approx. 6–7 hours, about 8:00‑A.M. – 3:00‑P.M.)
Benefit package (health, dental, vision)
Unique work experience and flexible scheduling
Full and part‑time positions
$17.50 – $25 per hour
State‑of‑the‑art portable dental equipment

Who We Are Smile New York Outreach, through its affiliated dentists and other dental professionals, visits kids throughout New York City and Westchester County in the familiar surroundings of their schools, bringing much‑needed dental care to children who may not otherwise have access. We embrace and support the various initiatives in New York State to improve children’s health, including greater access to dental care in schools. Knowing that many parents cannot take their children to the dentist due to work and transportation challenges, we bring the care to them, using the latest portable technology to transform classrooms and other spaces into fully functional dental offices for the day.
