The Senior Accountant (SA) will handle various financial reporting and accounting matters for Paramount Pictures Corporation (PPC) Overhead Reporting. The SA will also assist with finance projects related to technical accounting, process improvements and system implementations.
The position reports to the Senior Manager, Overhead Reporting, and there will be significant interaction with budget coordinators throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Populate monthly financial reporting schedules and provide to Planning
Analyze actuals vs. forecast (Budget / Estimate) and explain fluctuations
Analyze fringe balances and prepare quarterly fringe accruals based on the latest estimates
Prepare annual multi-employer pension project
Prepare corporate cost allocations
Prepare invoices for charges to Viacom
Prepare and park monthly and quarterly journal entries and accruals as required
Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to overhead
Clear conversion accounts ensuring they net to zero
Clear suspense/clearing accounts (including payroll and T&E) ensuring they net to zero
Balancing of financial systems
Validate Quarterly and YTD Earnings Books
Prepare Quarterly Balance Sheet File for Planning Team
Assist with audit requests
Back-up for Capital Acquisition/Disposal forms initial review
Back-up Aviation Department
Produce other ad hoc reporting and manage special projects as assigned
Qualifications / Skills
4-5+ years of experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Strong (and current) technical knowledge of US GAAP
Minimum of four years of accounting experience
Intermediate-Advanced skills in Excel
Proficiency in MS Word
Desired skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Detailed-oriented
Excellent written & oral communication and inter-personal skills
Understanding this position works closely with employees in Los Angeles and be willing to work similar hours when necessary and overtime to meet deadlines including at month and quarter ends
Ability to communicate with all levels of company personnel
Ability to work in a team oriented environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload efficiently and meet strict deadlines
Self-starter with ability to proactively identify issues, perform research and propose resolutions
Ability to work independently
Previous experience in the Entertainment Industry
Previous experience with Hyperion (Essbase/Smartview) and SAP desired
