This role is responsible for accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, supporting the agency’s strategic objectives. The Controller reports directly to the Agency President.### **Key Responsibilities****Financial Reporting*** Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and applicable accounting standards.* Deliver financial analyses, reporting packages, and insights to support leadership decision-making.**Accounting Operations*** Lead the month-end close process and manage all day-to-day agency accounting functions, including:
+ **Accounts Receivable:** Direct bill commission downloads, agency bill payments, other income, and deposits.
+ **Accounts Payable:** Payments to carriers, brokers, vendors, expense processing, and producer/broker commissions.
+ **Reconciliations:** Direct bill, premiums payable, producer accounts, parent company accounts, and bank reconciliations.
+ **General Accounting:** Payroll oversight, journal entries, and adjustments with the parent company.**Budgeting & Forecasting*** Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with department leaders.* Monitor performance, analyze variances, and provide forecasting updates.**Internal Controls*** Develop and maintain strong internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure financial data integrity.* Evaluate processes regularly to identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement.**Financial Compliance*** Ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.* Partner with the parent company and external auditors during annual audits; address audit findings and implement recommendations.**Treasury Management*** Oversee cash flow, liquidity monitoring, and working capital optimization.* Develop and implement effective cash management policies and practices.---### **Required Experience & Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.* 5-10 years of experience in an insurance accounting or finance role.* Proficiency with Applied Systems EPIC.* Proven success in a fast-paced, high-growth, metrics-driven environment.* Strong understanding of accounting principles related to property & casualty insurance.* Ability to anticipate needs, mitigate risks, and maintain sound financial controls.* High personal accountability and a strong commitment to ethical conduct.* Positive attitude with a growth-oriented approach.* Adaptable, agile, and comfortable navigating change with an entrepreneurial mindset.* Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to work across large data sets and multiple systems to perform complex reconciliations.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
