Key Responsibilities
Maintain a safe environment and uphold clinical standards.
Perform direct patient assessments, evaluations, and monitoring for cardiac stress testing and/or cardiac rehab.
Review patient history, physicals, and current medications.
Conduct patient interviews and obtain informed consent.
Start IV lines and administer IV medications.
Provide emergency medications per ACLS protocols and physician orders.
Monitor cardiopulmonary status and recognize clinical changes.
Perform daily crash cart/jump bag checks.
Collaborate with physicians regarding patient status and care needs.
Document all patient information in EMR.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Maintain positive, professional interactions with colleagues.
Set goals, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Participate in emergency training and provide emergency care as needed.
Attend required meetings or review minutes if absent.
Maintain flexibility to meet changing team needs.
Communicate patient concerns effectively with team members.
Serve as a role model within the nursing team.
Mentor peers and contribute to shared governance and evidence-based practice.
Stay current in cardiovascular disease, cardiopulmonary stress testing, and cardiac rehabilitation practices.
Participate in journals, webinars, in-services, meetings, and continuing education.
Identify learning needs and seek opportunities for improvement.
Comply with organizational policies and code of conduct.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience
Critical care experience (highly preferred)
Ability to perform assessments, evaluations, and patient monitoring
Proficiency with IV medication administration
Ability to respond to emergencies and follow ACLS protocols
Cardiopulmonary monitoring and interpreting patient status
Knowledge and application of the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code of Ethics
Ability to develop goal-oriented care plans
Ability to work independently and intervene appropriately
Strong communication and documentation skills (EMR proficiency)
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Basic competence in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and other basic applications
Ability to lead patient education (individual or group)
Self-directed learning and staying current with cardiology/cardiovascular guidelines
Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, SuccessFactors, and EMR systems effectively.
Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Licensure & Certifications (required upon hire):
Active RN License (Single-State of Georgia or Compact)
BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Minimum
5 years
of cardiac nursing experience Preferred
Ability to work night shift (for this specific role)
Ability to deliver individualized care in a fast-paced acute care environment
