Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site position for an Experienced Veterinary Technician at Oakton Animal Hospital, located in Elk Grove Village, IL. The Veterinary Technician will assist in administering medical care to animals, support veterinarians during examinations and procedures, collect and process lab samples, and educate pet owners about post‑treatment care and preventive measures. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate medical records, monitoring patients, and ensuring seamless operation of clinical services while providing a clean and organized workplace.
Qualifications
Proficiency in animal handling, restraint techniques, and radiographic imaging (standard and dental)
Proficiency in collection of laboratory samples via venipuncture, catheter and cytocentesis
Proficiency in performing laboratory tests, administering medications, injections and assisting in surgical procedures (monitoring vital signs while under anesthesia, intubation/extubation, IVC placement and anesthesia induction)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate and assist clients
Organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate medical records
Technical aptitude for using medical equipment and software systems
Commitment to delivering compassionate care and ensuring the well‑being of animals
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential is highly desirable but not required (wages negotiable based on credentialing and demonstration of skill set)
Prior experience in a veterinary clinical setting is required
