Job Description Metro PT seeks a motivated, compassionate, and forward‑thinking licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team as a floater, providing coverage throughout Central Suffolk County. This full‑time role will rotate among all of our clinics in the region, working under the direction of a Physical Therapist to deliver high‑quality patient care in state‑of‑the‑art facilities.
Responsibilities
Actively participate in patient care, notifying the supervising Physical Therapist of matters concerning the patient’s condition.
Follow the Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist and practice within state practice guidelines.
Exhibit sound judgment, professionalism, and skill in performing duties.
Instruct and counsel patients effectively in exercises and recovery.
Identify patient needs and demonstrate compassion and caring.
Communicate potential modifications to ensure patient progress, safety, and comfort.
Complete documentation in the EMR to support the delivery of physical therapy services.
Under direct supervision of a PT, record daily notes with co‑signature.
Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests.
Assist in patient treatment by applying ice or heat packs, helping patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion, tracking walking time and distance, and performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques as requested by a PT.
Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Report any issues needing resolution to Physical Therapists.

Qualifications
Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of New York or eligible.
Evaluates a patient’s need for physical therapy and develops an appropriate treatment plan.
Provides appropriate care and treatment to patients based on physician care plan, agency policy, and professional standards of care.
Instructs family members, PTA’s, Home Health Aides, and other caregivers in appropriate physical therapy techniques.
Mandatory Certifications: First Aid, AED, & CPR Certifications.
