The lab of Jeremy Chase Crawford in the Department of Host-Microbe Interactions is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Research Scientist to develop and implement novel technical approaches for assaying cellular immune responses to vaccination.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and have interests in integrative biology, human immune variation, and molecular assay development. Excellent communication, organizational skills, multi-tasking, and collaboration in a culturally diverse team are required.
Preferred Experience
Development and optimization of next-generation sequencing-based assays
Experience with lymphocyte receptor sequencing/genotyping
Experience working with primary human samples
Experience with cell culture
Background in immunology, microbiology, or host-microbe interactions
Large cross-field collaborations using human samples
Job Responsibilities
Coordinate multiple aspects of research projects and carry out laboratory experiments utilizing various laboratory techniques.
Provide input regarding research protocols and experiments, set up protocols, and assist in developing new laboratory techniques as required.
Identify experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem, process, organize, and summarize data, and report experimental results as required.
Draft sections of research manuscripts.
Provide basic lab operation support including equipment maintenance, purchasing, inventory management, instrument calibration, and troubleshooting.
Instruct other staff in basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Perform other related duties as assigned to meet departmental goals.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area (required).
Minimum Experience
Eight (8) years of relevant work experience (required).
Six (6) years of relevant work experience with a Master's degree (required).
Three (3) years of relevant work experience with a PhD (required).
Compensation St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role: $86,320 - $154,960 per year.
