An entry‑level designation in our Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) offers extensive on‑the‑job training and the opportunity to advance from novice to expert in nephrology nursing.

Location: 6810 Green Bay Rd, Ste 1, Kenosha, WI 53142. Clinic hours: MWF 5 am–8:30 pm; TTS 5 am–4 pm. Every other Saturday required; Sundays off. No on‑call. 10–12 hour shifts.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Perform all essential functions under supervision, as directed by the Supervisor and the Clinical Educator or Preceptor.

Collect, analyze, and document patient data pre‑, during, and post‑hemodialysis treatment; adjust treatment plans as indicated; notify Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician as needed.

Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education.

Direct and provide, in collaboration with direct and ancillary staff, safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy.

Administer medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s); document justification and effectiveness.

Initiate or assist with emergency response measures.

Serve as a resource for the health care team; participate in staff training and orient new staff as assigned.

Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures; reschedule missed or insufficient collections.

Identify expected outcomes; update nursing assessment and plan of care through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.

Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options.

Complete CAP requirements to advance.

Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Provide direct patient care that involves heavy lifting, patient movement, and ambulation support; equipment aids may assist.

Require frequent, prolonged standing; must bend over.

May occasionally move machines and equipment up to 200 lbs.; lift solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 ft.

Work environment: health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise.

Potential exposure to infectious and contagious materials.

Daily work: desk work, computer work, patient interaction, facility/hospital staff and physicians.

May require travel to training sites or other facilities.

May be asked to perform essential functions in other locations with the same demands and conditions.

Supervision

Supervise Patient Care Technicians, LPNs, LVNs, and RNs as Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge after completing all FKC education and training requirements.

Minimum 9 months RN experience; minimum 3 months chronic/acute hemodialysis RN experience.

Education and Licensure

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Current appropriate state licensure.

Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.

Meet state practice requirements where employed.

Experience and Required Skills

Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience.

Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred.
