Responsibilities
Assessment – Deliver comprehensive care by assessing physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs, collaborating with the healthcare team.
Diagnosis & Planning – Create personalized care plans with patients and families, prioritizing patient needs and goals.
Implementation – Provide evidence-based care, educate patients and families, execute planned interventions, and follow hospital policies and procedures.
Evaluation – Monitor outcomes and adjust care based on data and best practices.
Leadership & Professional Development – Collaborate with Clinical Manager to drive improvements, participate in Performance Improvement initiatives, promote High Reliability principles, and mentor peers while managing patient care effectively.
Qualifications
Current RN licensure in the state of employment.
BLS required before patient contact.
ACLS required within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas.
Unit-specific certifications may be required.
Unit Information The Cardiopulmonary Stepdown/4 South unit is a 20-bed medical stepdown unit specializing in care for acute MI, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, CHF, and other low-risk cardiac/chest pain diagnoses. The unit provides care for patients who are long-term ventilator dependent and performs non-invasive ventilation (Bi-PAP, C-PAP, A-PAP) and related therapies. Staff may perform infusion therapy, transfusions, injections, and central line care. The unit is a dedicated stroke unit; RNs are NIH stroke scale certified.
