Summary
Assists customers with frame selection, fits and dispenses frames. Utilizes technical information to interpret prescriptions and assist customers in selecting optical products and services. Pay Class and Pay
Pay Class: Full Time Pay: $27 – $40.50 per hour Essential Responsibilities
Assist each customer in frame and lens selection while meeting social distance requirements. Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning and hygiene protocols (frequent handwashing, covering nose/mouth while coughing or sneezing, avoiding touching eyes/nose/mouth with unwashed hands). Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections, and other services. Provide customers covered by third‑party insurance with accurate information on benefits and inform them of any additional charges not covered by insurance. Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations; use all available demonstration tools. Analyze and interpret patients’ prescriptions; communicate as necessary with the lab and optometrist to ensure accuracy. Sell, fit, and dispense frames and accessories using accurate measurements, verifying order and adjusting optical products per Eyewear Presentation. Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area. Ensure accurate pricing for retail customers. Maintain license requirements per state guidelines. Where applicable, provide feedback and guidance to apprentice opticians. Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies (e.g., HIPAA). Participate in training and educational activities necessary to meet departmental goals. Diligently maintain cleanliness of all equipment, workstations and facility daily. Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by changing business needs. Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience & Background
Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing. Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in explaining optical products, services, analyzing and interpreting optical prescriptions, fitting and dispensing. Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and associates. Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Essential Responsibilities Related to Physical Demands/Work Environment
Stand, use hands and fingers to handle, feel, pick, or pinch, and talk or hear most of the time. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
