Job Description The Department of Neurosurgery is pleased to announce the opening of a position for a Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care. This individual will act as a physician extender for the collaborating surgeons in the Neurosurgery Department. Duties include but are not limited to: independently providing assistance in a multidisciplinary practice for adult patient populations; performing essential patient care functions, which include diagnosing and treating neurosurgical surgical patients in the clinic; performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, and performing or assisting with minor procedures; assisting in the evaluation and assessment of potential surgical candidates; obtaining and documenting a complete and focused history and physical and relating other aspects of medical information to the surgeons and physicians; participating in the Missouri Telehealth Network by providing telemedicine return clinic appointments via Polycom connection; assisting in the identification of patient trends and participating in quality improvement activities and guiding the implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards; actively participating in clinical research as needed; assisting as needed in the operating room; performing and leading minor procedures with an opportunity for growth; assisting with inpatient consultations; demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skills in the diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems; and performing other duties as assigned.

Shift Monday through Friday - 12 hour shifts (minimum 2 shifts per month).

Minimum Qualifications

Master of Science in Nursing degree.

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

Must be granted a "Document of Recognition" from the Missouri Board of Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

Possess a specialty certificate by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board (PCNB), or the National Certification Corporation (NCC).

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $125 per hour.

Grade: PAT-012.

University Title: NURSE PRACTITIONER - SPECIALTY CARE.
