Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room. Location: Battle Creek, MI. Agency: Fusion Medical Staffing. Pay: $1,989 to $2,116 per week. Shift: Days – 3 days x 12 hours. Contract Duration: 13 weeks. Start Date: 1/26/2026.
About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Fusion Medical Staffing to find a qualified OR RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Responsibilities Prepares the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure. Assists in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements. Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adheres to infection control protocols and sterile technique. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow. Monitors the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon. Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols. Manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results. Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly. Participates in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases, ensuring continuity of care. Assists in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols. Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards. Follows hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN. Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
Preferred Qualifications ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications. OR Nursing Certification (CNOR). Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.
Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language. Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical abilities – able to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal skills – work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) with a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/motor skills – ability to perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move when assisting with procedures. Mental requirements – cope with frequent contact with the general public, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision occasionally, and maintain concentration to detail. Sensory – visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate.
