Base pay range $23.00/hr - $23.00/hr
Purpose: (General description and summary) Oversee and maintain the automated medication packaging, distribution and delivery systems. Formulate adequate stocking levels of medications and inventory control for the automation system. Support department operations in compliance to regulatory agency requirements, functions, and record keeping as pertaining to pharmacy automation. Help provide training to agency staff on proper use of electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) and maintain the system. Work as a valuable team member in the daily operations of the pharmacy.
Accountabilities: (Responsibilities of the job)
Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with local, state, federal, and company regulations.
Enter prescription orders into the pharmacy management software and follow-up in the agency software to ensure medications filled appear on the eMAR.
Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.
Troubleshoot third party prescription claims questions with an understanding of on-line rejections and plan parameters.
Follow daily packaging and cleaning assignments.
Complete extemporaneous packaging assignments as needed.
Make formulary changes and other adjustments in the eMAR at the direction of the Pharmacy Care Coordinator and/or pharmacist.
Receive wholesaler order when needed.
Create and update patients’ health and insurance information in the computer.
Communicate with prescribers, clinical staff and/or residential staff to obtain refill authorization.
Establish adequate stock levels of medications in the automated dispensing system maintaining inventory control by optimizing canisters. Assists in maintenance of drug inventory in the automated purchasing system.
Maintain on-going quality assurance of the automated medication system via available reports.
Maintain skill and knowledge required by completing required CE and staff trainings.
Prepare the pharmacy inventory.
Screen telephone calls for the pharmacist.
Assist in training new pharmacy employees on functions within the pharmacy.
Assist pharmacist in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
Perform any other duty that may be assigned by supervisor or pharmacist.

Education / Certificates / Licenses / Registration
Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Required
High School Graduate - Required
Business/College Courses - Preferred
Medical Terminology Courses - Preferred
Valid Driver’s license
Experience / Qualifications
Two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
A comprehensive understanding of the billing process is required.
Prior experience in medication automation, quality assurance, purchasing, inventory and record keeping is preferred.
Impact The On‑Call Pharmacy Technician plays an instrumental role in the processing and effective delivery of medications to the clients served by New Narrative.
